I love hooded eyes or 'bedroom eyes', because they have such a sultry, moody look.
Here are some simple tips to make the most of your hooded eyes:
1. Use small eye brushes
A lot of eyeshadow brushes sold on the high street are quite large. However with hooded eyes, you will need to use much finer brushes to create a more precise finish, otherwise you will deposit too much product across the lid.
2. Keep darker colours close to the lash line
Avoid using dark shadow across the entire lid. It will create a very heavy effect and make the eyes look too small. Keep dark shades as close to the lash line as possible, pressing into the lashes then blending up.
3. Keep the browbone neutral
Adding too much highlighter across the browbone can accentuate the hooded appearance of the eyelid. Avoid too much shimmer and keep the browbone neutral and fresh.
4. Remember the lower lid
Line under lower lashliner then smudge for a softened, wide-eyed look. Add a neutral, white or pink shimmer pencil (my favourite is by Makeup Forever) on the waterline to make eyes pop.
5. Define the brows
Creating a full, defined arch instantly created lift and sultriness to the hooded eye. Avoid over-plucking and fill brows with a brow wax and shadow. Benefit, Sleek and Bobbi Brown all do fantastic brow kits.
6. Avoid heavy fake lashes
Use a lash extending mascara or individual lashes at the ends of the eye. Stay away from thick fake full lash to avoid the dreaded 'Lamb chop' effect:
